I am one of many that are involved with a nonprofit organization called Punch Out Parkinson's (POP). My husband was diagnosed with Parkinsons in December 2023. Without the Lasso family and their commitment to helping with their POP program, as well as the support they offer to family members this would be even a more difficult journey for our family.

The non-profit Parkinsons wellness center is conveniently located in Langley.

My husband goes Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 11am - noon to the gym to take part in the amazing program offered to him and many other ladies and gentleman with Parkinsons. This program is open to anyone and all are welcome. We have one gentleman that comes in from Cutlas Lake to Langley to take part.

Our whole family has noticed a great improvement in his talking both at family gatherings as well as on the phone, cogitative thinking has made an amazing improvement. He can now count his cards when playing crib, his shaking has improved, he gets in and out of the car much easier, as well as many day-to-day activities are more manageable for him.

My husband has been taking part in the classes as well as the casual information sessions after the boxing at the wellness center. This causal get together gives everyone an opportunity to discuss their current challenges with Parkinson’s or their successes they have had. It also gives the care giving families a chance to get any support that they might need.

When Jim as first diagnosed, it was devastating to me and our family, however the support we received from other folks with Parkinson’s as well as their family members at the boxing as well as the wellness center has been amazing. My family and friends have always felt welcome and comfortable sharing our Parkinsons journey with other people who are on the same journey.
