Three years ago I was diagnosed with Parkinson Disease (PD), a neurological disorder that impacts the brain and its ability to function normally. Some days are very challenging as we deal with freezing symptoms, difficulties with speech and memory, tremors and muscle spasms. While there is no medical cure, together with my wife, we are fighting this disease by maintaining an active lifestyle, by walking, attending Box2Fit and going to the gym regularly; activities which have been proven to support the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of those with Parkinson's disease.
We are so grateful to Punch Out Parkinson’s (POP), which offers a specialized boxing program to help those who are burdened with the many symptoms of Parkinson’s. It is through the generosity of spirit of the LaSasso family and POP charity and Wellness Centre, this community of like-minded individuals is able to support each other with our respective challenges. It is a tight-knit Parkinson’s family sharing friendship, compassion, camaraderie and support. As members of the POP family, we are able to attend classes led by enthusiastic, patient and compassionate instructors. This program helps build strength, balance and coordination, and challenges the brain. We have been fortunate to attend this program for two years now, and while difficult at times, we are fighting back as best we can against this disease. Programs like this give us hope and encouragement.
We appreciate all efforts in support of this very worthy cause.
